Land Use

Since 1992, the process of privatization of agricultural lands has been provided in the country (for January, 1996, 610 thousand ha of lands were transferred to private ownership). It has been suggested that at the end of the reform 850 thousand ha will be transferred to private owners.

Nowadays 0.58 ha of agricultural land comes per capita (0.13 ha - arable).

Recent significant increase in the use of chemical substances (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, etc.) is mainly due to the mismanagement and incorrect use of chemicals by private land owners. Unfortunately, the correct figures are not unavailable.
